OpenAI to Launch New AI Engine This Fall: Project Strawberry Achieves Human-Level Reasoning

Earlier, OpenAI announced the development of a new AI engine called Project Strawberry, which is expected to bring human-level reasoning capabilities to tackle complex mathematical and programming problems. Recently, reports indicate that the Strawberry engine will be integrated into ChatGPT, with plans for a release this fall.

According to reports from The Information, OpenAI has already demonstrated the Strawberry engine to U.S. national security officials and, during internal demonstrations, successfully solved crossword puzzles from The New York Times. Two sources revealed that OpenAI may launch Strawberry within ChatGPT this autumn.

Project Strawberry aims to revolutionize artificial intelligence by enhancing self-learning and logical reasoning. Self-learning allows AI systems to develop and adapt without ongoing human guidance, while logical reasoning enables AI systems to make rational decisions based on available data—both of which are crucial for developing more complex and autonomous AI models.

In addition, OpenAI is also working on the next-generation AI model codenamed Orion. Currently, Strawberry is generating high-quality synthetic data to train Orion, although the release date for Orion has not yet been announced.
